Communications Officer
We are looking for a creative and skilled Communications Officer to develop and implement communication strategies for the Human Rights Are Universal Festival. The ideal candidate will be passionate about human rights advocacy and skilled in using various media to engage diverse audiences.

- Documentation of festival activities
Responsibilities
Detailed Responsibilities
Content Creation
- Develop compelling content for various platforms that highlights the festival's mission, activities, and impact
- Create regular blog posts, newsletters, and email campaigns
- Produce video content and photography briefs
- Develop stories that showcase the festival's impact on communities and individuals
Digital Media Management
- Manage all social media accounts with regular, engaging updates
- Track and analyze social media metrics to optimize engagement
- Implement paid social media campaigns
- Coordinate live social media coverage during events
Media Relations
- Develop and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets
- Write and distribute press releases
- Coordinate media interviews with festival representatives
- Monitor media coverage and maintain press clippings
Website Management
- Update website content regularly
- Monitor website analytics
- Optimize content for SEO
- Ensure all information is current and accurate
Marketing & Branding
- Ensure consistent application of the festival brand across all materials
- Coordinate the development of promotional materials
- Work with designers to create compelling visual assets
- Develop and implement marketing campaigns
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English
- Proficiency in social media management and content creation
- Experience with website content management systems
- Strong visual sense and understanding of effective design principles
- Familiarity with digital marketing tools and analytics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Interest in human rights and arts advocacy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the non-profit or arts sectors
- Knowledge of human rights issues in East Africa
- Photography and/or video production skills
- Graphic design experience
- Experience with email marketing platforms
- Additional language skills (particularly local languages)
- Experience in event promotion
