Exhibition Intern
Join our dynamic team as an Exhibition Intern and gain valuable experience in the arts and human rights sectors! This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn about exhibition planning, curation, and installation while contributing to meaningful cultural events that promote human rights awareness.
The Exhibition Intern will work closely with our Exhibitions Manager and artists to support the preparation and execution of visual art exhibitions for the upcoming Human Rights Are Universal Festival.
Responsibilities
Internship Responsibilities
Exhibition Support
- Assist with exhibition installation and de-installation
- Support the coordination of artwork loans and transportation
- Help maintain exhibition spaces
- Assist with lighting and display setup
Artist Liaison
- Support communication between the festival and participating artists
- Assist with artist hospitality
- Help coordinate artist talks and presentations
- Take notes during meetings with artists
Research & Documentation
- Conduct research for exhibition themes and content
- Assist with cataloging artworks
- Help document exhibitions through photography
- Compile information for exhibition texts and labels
Administrative Support
- Assist with correspondence related to exhibitions
- Help maintain exhibition files and records
- Support budget tracking for exhibition expenses
- Assist with exhibition schedules and timelines
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in fine arts, art history, museum studies, or related field
- Interest in contemporary art and human rights issues
- Basic knowledge of exhibition design and installation techniques
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace)
- Ability to lift and move items up to 15kg (with assistance when needed)
- Available to work 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship
Beneficial Skills (Not Required)
- Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite)
- Photography skills
- Prior experience in a gallery, museum, or arts organization
- Knowledge of artwork handling procedures
- Interest in arts education and community engagement

This is a 3-month internship from August 1 to October 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension.
Stipend: A monthly stipend of UGX 500,000 will be provided to cover transportation and meals.
Hours: 20 hours per week, schedule to be determined with supervisor.
