Volunteer Coordinator (Part-time)

The Human Rights Are Universal Festival is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and manage our festival volunteers. This part-time position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our annual festival by building and supporting a team of passionate volunteers.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, people-oriented, and committed to creating a positive volunteer experience while supporting our mission of promoting human rights through the arts.

Responsibilities

Detailed Responsibilities

Volunteer Recruitment

  • Develop volunteer recruitment strategies and materials
  • Conduct outreach to universities, community organizations, and other potential volunteer sources
  • Review volunteer applications and conduct interviews
  • Match volunteers with appropriate roles based on skills and interests

Training & Development

  • Design and implement volunteer training programs
  • Create volunteer handbooks and resources
  • Organize orientation sessions and workshops
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers

Coordination & Scheduling

  • Create and manage volunteer schedules using scheduling software
  • Coordinate volunteer assignments during the festival
  • Ensure adequate volunteer coverage for all festival activities
  • Maintain communication with volunteers regarding schedules and responsibilities

Volunteer Experience

  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for volunteers
  • Address volunteer concerns and resolve conflicts
  • Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions
  • Gather feedback from volunteers to improve programs

Administration

  • Maintain volunteer database and records
  • Track volunteer hours and contributions
  • Prepare reports on volunteer activities
  • Manage volunteer check-in procedures during events

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in volunteer management or coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Experience with scheduling and database management
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Problem-solving skills and flexibility
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends, particularly during the festival period
  • Commitment to human rights values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with arts or cultural organizations
  • Background in human rights or social justice work
  • Familiarity with volunteer management software
  • Experience organizing training programs
  • Knowledge of the local community and cultural context
  • Experience with event management
  • Multilingual abilities
