Announcing the Theme for the 2025 Festival: "DEFEND"

We are thrilled to announce the theme for the 2025 Human Rights Are Universal Festival: DEFEND.

This year, we will focus on four critical areas:

Climate change and environment
Discrimination and exclusion
Democracy
Freedom of expression

Through art, music, film, and dialogue, we will explore how individuals and communities can defend these fundamental rights and values in today's challenging world.

The festival will take place from October 9-12, 2025, in Kampala, with an extension event in Jinja on October 28. We invite artists, activists, and community members to join us in this important conversation.
